Medical Director – Emergency Medicine

Location: Lehigh Acres, Florida
Compensation: $300/hr + $72,000 Annual Stipend
Job Type: Full-Time - 1099 Position  

Position Overview:

A full-time Medical Director position is now open for a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM/AOBEM) at a busy emergency department in Florida. This role combines clinical care with departmental leadership and offers competitive compensation, a substantial annual stipend, and the opportunity to lead a high-performing team in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide medical leadership and oversight for emergency department operations
• Collaborate with clinical staff and administration to ensure quality care delivery
• Drive performance improvement and clinical excellence initiatives
• Maintain clinical practice with a full-time schedule (12 shifts/month, including 2 weekends)
• Support, mentor, and guide fellow physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs)

Qualifications:

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM required)
• Minimum of 3 years of recent emergency medicine experience NOT Urgent Care
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR preferred
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and PALS (unless ABEM certified)
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills

Emergency Department Details:

• Annual Volume: Approximately 26,000 patient visits
• APP Coverage: 13–22 hours per day
• Physician Shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM (must be a mix of both OR night shifts).
• EMR: EPIC
