Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Medical Doctor (MD) to serve as the Medical Director for both Public Health and Detention Health Services. This is a contract position responsible for oversight, consultation, policy development, and medical leadership. This includes serving as the primary medical authority across both divisions and being available for consultations 24/7.

Qualifications:
- Education: MD/DO from an accredited institution
- Licensure:
- Active Arizona Medical License
- Valid and Unrestricted DEA Registration
- Experience: Prior experience in public health and correctional/detention healthcare (CCHP preferred.
- Other requirements:
- Medical malpractice insurance that covers correctional facility practice
- Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
- Ability to complete a background check and comply with all detention center policies
- Available to provide on-call services as required
Key Responsibilities:
- Public Health Services Oversight
- Oversight of TB testing, immunizations, and complex cases
- Clinical advisement and training of staff
- Oversight of protocols, standing orders, and public health emergency response
- Lab director for iron testing in children
- Participation in Board meetings and emergency preparedness
- Detention Health Services Oversight
- Policy review and medical consultation
- Annual formulary and protocol reviews
- Medication management, including DEA credentialing and controlled substance ordering
- Mortality reviews and grievance response
- Monthly staff meeting attendance and on-call provider coverage
- Billing and Reporting
- Submit monthly expense reports by the 15th of each month for the prior month
- Maintain a transparent and itemized fee structure
