    Position Overview:

    The Medical Examiner / Clinical Pathologist will provide specialized clinical pathology services in support of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG), specifically the Behavioral Analysis Units (BAUs). The role focuses on delivering forensic pathology expertise to assist in complex investigative matters, including child abductions, homicides, and other death investigations. The position requires independent professional judgment to review, analyze, and interpret forensic pathology findings, while providing consultation to law enforcement personnel. The contractor operates under a non-personal services framework and is fully accountable for performance and deliverables.

    Qualifications:

    • Job Qualifications & Certifications:
      • Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
      • Completion of a Pathology Residency (3–4 years)
      • Board Certification in:
        • Forensic Pathology(required)
        • Anatomic Pathology(required)
      • Completion of Forensic Pathology Fellowship (preferred/required per evaluation)
      • Minimum 10 years of experience in forensic pathology
      • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States
    • Skills:
      • Expert knowledge of forensic pathology and death investigations, including pediatric and adult cases
      • Strong analytical and diagnostic capabilities in evaluating biological and forensic evidence
      • Ability to interpret and communicate complex medical findings clearly and effectively
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and testimony
      • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary investigative teams
      • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
      • Ability to provide guidance and training to law enforcement personnel

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct on-site case consultations, telephone consultations, and collaborative discussions with FBI investigators
    • Review forensic pathology case materials for completeness, validity, and accuracy
    • Provide expert analysis on child and adult death investigations, including complex and sensitive cases
    • Assist in interpreting forensic pathology findings and supporting investigative conclusions
    • Recommend additional investigative techniques or approaches when applicable
    • Prepare and deliver written reports and oral presentations regarding findings and expert opinions
    • Provide expert testimony as required in judicial proceedings
    • Develop and deliver training materials and instruction for FBI personnel
    • Maintain professional independence while delivering services under contract
    • Ensure timely response to FBI requests and completion of assigned tasks
    • Coordinate directly with FBI Special Agents and COR regarding case requirements
    • Adhere to all federal regulations, contract requirements, and performance standards
    • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive investigative information
