Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our clinical laboratory team, supporting a pain management practice. The technician will operate the EASYRA analyzer, performing routine toxicology testing to support patient care and medication monitoring.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and timely drug screening results to assist physicians in managing and treating patients dealing with chronic pain. The lab operates Monday through Friday, with regular equipment maintenance and quality control measures performed daily.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine urine drug testing using the EASYRA machine, including tests for:
Opiates
Fentanyl
Oxycodone
Creatinine
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Benzodiazepines
[Other substances as required by clinical protocols]
Prepare, handle, and process biological specimens in accordance with safety and HIPAA regulations.
Ensure daily maintenance, calibration, and quality control of the EASYRA analyzer and related laboratory equipment.
Record and report test results accurately within established turnaround times.
Collaborate with clinical staff from the pain management office to ensure testing supports patient treatment plans.
Maintain inventory of lab supplies and reagents.
Follow all laboratory protocols, standard operating procedures, and compliance standards (e.g., COLA, OSHA).
Assist with troubleshooting instrument issues and communicate with technical support as needed.
Assist with state inspection when needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a laboratory science or related field preferred.
Previous experience operating clinical laboratory equipment; experience with the EASYRA analyzer is a plus.
Knowledge of toxicology screening and drug metabolism.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Strong communication skills for interaction with clinical staff and lab team members.
Working Conditions:
Weekday schedule: Monday – Friday
Lab environment with exposure to biological specimens and chemical reagents
Standing, walking, and light lifting may be required
