Insurance Verification Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Insurance Verification Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and benefits, ensuring that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.

Key responsibilities include:

- Contacting insurance companies to verify coverage and benefits for patients
- Reviewing insurance policies and communicating with patients regarding their coverage
- Obtaining authorization for medical services as needed
- Documenting all insurance verification activities in patient records
- Collaborating with healthcare providers and billing staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of insurance claims
- Resolving any discrepancies or issues related to insurance coverage

The ideal candidate will have:

• High School Diploma is required
• Minimum of 2 years prior experience in insurance verification and medical billing
• Knowledge of EOBs, CPT & ICD-9 codes, HCFAs, UB92s, HCPCS
• Full understanding of insurance follow-up processes (Billing, Collections, Managed Cre, and Commercial Practices) relating to commercial and government insurance plans
• Knowledge of in and out of network insurances, insurance verification, patient responsibility, and process for prior authorization
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of medical insurance terminology and procedures
• Proficiency with computer systems and software for data entry and record-keeping
