    Ophthalmology/Optometry office needing a fulltime medical receptionist. Spanish speaking required. Motivated, detail oriented, multi-tasking, self starter. Professional in attitude, performance, appearance.

    The receptionist is responsible for efficient, friendly admission of patients into the Perlman Center for Eyes. Responsible for maintaining patient charts and records. Responsible for coordinating all telephone traffic for the Perlman Center. Makes and schedules procedures & appointments for patients in an efficient and timely manner. General Responsibilities: • Pulls daily scheduled patient charts/records and authorizations • Schedule all provider appointments, including scheduling and, when necessary, coordinating ancillary testing when necessary and ensuring pre-certs and prior authorizations are received. • Bump, cancel and handle no-show appointments according to established process. • Check in patients to the office. This process includes greeting the patient, verifying all personal information (address, telephone, etc.), verifying method of payment, verifying insurance, collecting co-payment when applicable, entering necessary information into computer system, and providing any requested information to patients. • Provides other staff and department with translation assistance • Maintains supplies related to the job function. • Assists other patient service staff as needed. • Properly triages patients and visitors. • Responds easily to routine requests for information. • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and communicates with Office Manager regarding procedural changes and concerns. • Cooperates and communicates with all staff members and physicians about patient matters. • Understands and follows through with appropriate medical record charges. • Communicate any expected delays to patients. • Work with patients, families and/or staff in handling and resolving problems that occur during the course of visit. • Collect and make change for payments received, complete receipt for patient. • Compare daily cash amounts against daily transactions in order to ensure that records balance. • Verify and coordinate patient referrals. • Answer phone system, handle and/or direct call to appropriate area; place calls as requested by • Effectively manage dynamic, potentially stressful patient encounters. • Maintain the general appearance of the waiting room or reception area and restroom; straighten magazines, chairs and other light furniture, make sure there are cups on the water cooler and toilet paper and paper towels in the restroom. • Ability to enter data into computer is necessary. • Ability to keep pace with a high volume of patients while performing multiple, sometimes complex tasks is necessary.
