About the Role:
Wu Pediatrics is looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Records Coordinator to join our growing team. In this essential role, you'll be the backbone of our patient information management, ensuring accurate and timely records that support the exceptional care our young patients deserve. Responsibilities:
Maintain, organize, and update electronic health records (EHR) and patient files with accuracy and confidentiality
Process medical records requests from patients, guardians, and third-party providers in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Coordinate release of information (ROI) and ensure proper authorization documentation is obtained
Communicate with clinical staff, insurance companies, and external healthcare providers regarding patient records
Assist with medical coding, chart audits, and record retrieval to support billing and compliance teams
Scan, index, and file incoming documents into the practice management system
Support front office staff with scheduling, referrals, and administrative tasks as needed
Requirements:
1+ years of experience in medical records, health information management, or a related healthcare administrative role
Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical record management software
Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient privacy regulations
Experience in a pediatric or outpatient clinical setting is a plus
Proficiency in medical terminology and basic ICD-10/CPT coding concepts preferred
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong communication skills and a warm, patient-centered demeanor
High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in Health Information Technology (RHIT or similar) a plus
