Colon Rectal Associates of Central New York, LLP is seeking an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Medical Secretary to join our front desk team.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who takes initiative and ownership of their responsibilities. The ideal candidate can recognize what needs to be done, prioritize tasks, and follow through independently while also working well as part of a team. Flexibility and a willingness to assist where needed are important to the success of this position.

    Responsibilities

Greet and check patients in and out in a friendly and professional manner.

Answer incoming calls, take accurate messages, and route calls appropriately.

Schedule and confirm new patient, follow-up, office visit, and procedure appointments.

Follow physician scheduling templates and practice guidelines.

Register patients and update demographic and insurance information.

Verify insurance coverage, referrals, and authorization requirements.

    Collect co-pays and patient balances.

Maintain accurate information in the electronic medical record.

Scan, fax, upload, and process patient documents.

Assist physicians and staff with administrative needs.

Provide front desk and office coverage where needed.

Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements.

    Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of medical office or medical secretary experience required.

Experience with an electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) system.

    MEDENT experience strongly preferred.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Self-motivated and able to recognize and complete tasks without waiting for direction.

Flexible and willing to adjust responsibilities based on the needs of the practice.

    Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Strong attention to detail and follow-through.

Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance processes preferred.

    Dependable attendance and punctuality.

    Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.

    What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and willing to step in where needed. Our practice can be fast-paced, and priorities may change throughout the day. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, communicating when assistance is needed, and helping the team keep the office running smoothly.

If you have medical office experience, enjoy working with patients, and are looking to become part of an established specialty medical practice, we would like to hear from you.

I can also add “No weekends or holidays” if that is accurate, which is a nice selling point for an Indeed posting.
