What You’ll Be Doing
Responsibilities vary by setting, but may include:
- Completing comprehensive evaluations for adults with dysphagia, cognitive-communication disorders, aphasia, dysarthria, and other communication/swallowing impairments.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans aligned with medical status, functional goals, and interdisciplinary care needs.
- Providing direct therapy in acute care, outpatient, or home health settings, focusing on swallowing safety, communication recovery, voice therapy, and cognitive rehabilitation.
- Conducting instrumental swallow assessments (FEES/VFSS) where credentialed and applicable.
- Monitoring patients’ progress and adapting plans of care based on medical changes, caregiver involvement, and discharge planning needs.
- Collaborating with physicians, nursing, dietitians, PT/OT, care managers, and family members to support safe transitions and continuity of care.
- Documenting evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and physician communications in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Staying current with evidence-based practices and participating in CEU and professional development opportunities.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Active Oregon SLP license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, or CCC-eligible (if applicable)
- SLPs applying to work outside the state they reside in must hold a license in both states
- Prior medical experience preferred (clinical fellowship with medical rotation also welcomed)
- Someone who communicates clearly, collaborates well, and thrives in fast-paced clinical environments
