    Job Description

    A. Overall Purpose of the Job
    This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this
    position will represent International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. and provide services outlined
    below:
    International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is looking for an individual who is an experienced
    Medical Supply Technician to ensure supplies and material are distributed from secondary inventory points to
    all areas serviced by the Logistics Service including sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies by scanning,
    receiving, storing, rotating using the first in, first out method, and delivering. Use Department of Veterans
    Affairs automated inventory systems and follow Veterans Health Administration directives, local policies,
    Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and manufacturer guidance to maintain accurate inventory and
    uninterrupted clinical support.
    B. Key Responsibilities
    • Maintain stock at primary and secondary inventory locations; replenish from main inventory; maintain
    accurate records; recommend stock‑level revisions to Inventory Management Specialists.
    • Perform daily inventories using bar‑coding and automated systems on a predetermined schedule;
    reconcile discrepancies between system records and physical counts.
    • Distribute items using computerized inventory systems such as Generic Inventory Package (GIP),
    Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), AbovePAR, and ParEx;
    use a pager or similar device to expedite requests; fulfil routine and emergent needs.
    • Monitor expirations, recall items, and hazard alerts; rotate stock; remove out‑of‑date items; escalate
    significant deviations to Inventory Management Specialists.
    • Clean and maintain assigned secondary storage in accordance with aseptic principles,
    infection‑control guidance, local SOPs, and Joint Commission standards.
    • Deliver supplies accurately and on time to wards, clinics, and remote secondary locations; ensure
    delivered items are in sterile and operational condition; complete specialty cart preparation and
    stocking. Delivery by motor vehicle may be required.
    • Receive, unpack, store, and mark items and shelving; consolidate materials for space utilization and
    protection; support wall‑to‑wall and periodic inventories; assist other logistics functions as assigned.
    • Apply and comply with Veterans Health Administration directives, local policies, SOPs, manufacturer’s
    catalogs and fact sheets, and shelf‑life guidelines; interpret and apply regulatory guidance and elevate
    unresolved issues appropriately.
    • Communicate professionally with customers and stakeholders; use tact and diplomacy; promptly
    escalate service issues when required.
    • Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); wear Department of Veterans Affairs‑provided
    identification badge above the waist; do not use personal electronic devices while working except in
    an emergency.
    • Meet staffing and scheduling requirements, including fixed tours and rotational shifts with possible
    weekend and Federal holiday coverage as specified for the site.
    • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are
    client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory
    bodies.

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements/Certifications:
    • Practical knowledge of supply and inventory management (stock rotation, recalls, hazard alerts) and ability
    to interpret policies, procedures, manuals, and regulations.
    • Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) to manage supply inventory.
    • Experience in healthcare logistics or distribution preferred.

    • Operate automated systems (scanning, bar‑coding, computerized inventory) for delivery and inventory
    control; validate and maintain data accuracy.
    • Continually monitor needs and trends, make necessary adjustments, and escalate complex issues to the
    supervisor or Inventory Management Specialists.
    • Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative customers and vendors; provide timely,
    customer‑focused support.
    • Technically proficient to perform the stated duties.
    • Basic mathematical problem solving.
    Education Required:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Stand and walk for the full workday; frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of packages up to 50 pounds;
    push loaded carts that may exceed 100 pounds; request assistance for items over 40 pounds.
    • Work across wards, clinics, operating rooms, warehouses, and storage buildings; conditions may be hot,
    cold, drafty, or poorly lit; risk of trips, scrapes, cuts, or bruises; maintain a clean environment even when
    tasks generate dust or pollutants.
    Other Special Qualifications:
    • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
    • Must not have a criminal record.
    • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. Must have Real ID
    • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

    Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
