Overview
Join the high-volume Core Laboratory of a 230+ bed acute-care hospital, supporting critical diagnostics for the ED, ICU, NICU/PICU, oncology, cardiac, surgical, and inpatient units. As a Medical Technologist (Generalist) , you’ll rotate across key benches—including Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank, Coagulation, UA, Serology, and Microbiology—while ensuring timely, accurate results that drive clinical decision-making. You’ll also help maintain instrumentation, uphold regulatory readiness, and support training for new staff.
Key Responsibilities
Perform moderate- and high-complexity testing across Hematology, Chemistry, Blood Bank/Transfusion Services, Coag, UA, Serology, Microbiology.
Verify, interpret, and release results in accordance with laboratory policy and clinical urgency.
Complete and document QC/QA, calibrations, proficiency testing , and any required corrective actions per CLIA/CAP/SOP standards.
Troubleshoot analyzers, coordinate vendor service, and support downtime procedures.
Prioritize STAT/urgent workflows, maintain sample integrity, and uphold TAT and critical value policies.
Assist with specimen processing, receiving, or phlebotomy/accessioning when needed.
Precept/orient new hires or students; support competency assessments and improvement projects.
Maintain safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance; participate in inspection readiness.
Qualifications
Required:
Active or in-progress Florida Medical Technologist license (per state guidelines).
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field.
National certification: MT/MLS (ASCP or equivalent) required at start date.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred / Considered:
Prior MT experience strongly preferred, but new MTs with strong clinical rotations will be considered.
Experience in multiple benches and/or high-acuity/higher volume labs is a plus.
Additional Information
Compensation
Base Rates:
1–2 years: $28.65–$29.89/hr
5–6 years: $31.12–$32.36/hr
10+ years: $33.59–$36.95/hr
Differentials:
Evening Shift: +$2.00/hr
Night Shift: +$3.00/hr
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000
