    Job Summary

    A medical administrative specialist, reporting to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor, is responsible for verifying insurance for the clinic. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment, flexible when accepting work, and have a strong customer service focus to effectively interact with patients, doctors, staff, and management.

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications / Job Duties:

    A solid understanding of medical insurance, including deductibles, copays, and coinsurance, is highly preferred.

    Previous experience with verifying and interpreting medical benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, and primary commercial health insurance and secondary payers is required.

    Verify patient eligibility through payer websites or by telephone to determine coverage and calculate patient responsibility for scheduled services.

    Strong people skills required; diplomatic, patient, flexible, and able to multitask and be cross-trained on all functions within the Insurance Verification Department.

    Must be able to move freely in an office setting, including sitting, standing, walking, and bending.

    Perform general duties and other tasks as required or assigned—working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

    Posting Patients' and insurance payments, among other administrative duties
