  • Responsibilities

    The primary purpose of your job description is to assist in the administration of medications to the residents as ordered by the resident’s attending physician, under the direction of attending physician, the supervisor and administrator. The administration of medications shall be in accordance of established nursing standards, the policies and the practices of this facility, and the requirement of the state.

    As a Certified Medication Aide, you are delegated the administrative authority responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

    Job Functions/Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities:

    1. Administer medications to the residents according to the direction of resident’s physician.

    2. Follow the policies and procedures of the facility governing the administration of the medication to the residents.

    3. Note and report errors in medication to the Administrator or Resident Care Coordinator

    4. Perform the administrative requirements such as completing the necessary forms, charts, reports, and submit these as may be required.

    5. Ensure each resident has all their medication in the facility. Order and reorder medications from the pharmacy as necessary.

    6. Assist the CNA with getting the residents ready for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

    7. Assist the residents and kitchen staff during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner time.

    8. Ensure the accurate count of narcotic medications at the end of each shift.

    9. Assist in developing and implementing procedures or programs of the facility that seeks to determine whet medication errors are taking place, when, where, and shy they occur and how the medication error can be prevented.

    10. Maintain a friendly, productive, working relationship with other members of nursing department, attending physicians, pharmacist, and LHPS nurses.

    11. Report any complaints or grievances made by the resident or resident’s family member to the administrator or resident care coordinator.

    12. Participate and cooperate with any facility surveys or inspection made by the authorized government agencies as requested by the administrator.

    13. Ensure that the residents’ physical appearance is well kept and always ensure resident needs are met.

    15. Ensure the safety of each resident and participate in the evacuation of residents in case of emergency or disaster.

    16. Maintain a liaison with residents, family members, and support department to adequately plan for the resident needs.

    17. Must follow the established procedure governing the handling and disposal of infections wastes.

    Report the resident refusal of treatment or medication to the administrator or resident care coordinator.
