Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Medication Technician to support the safe and accurate administration of medications in a care-focused environment. This role helps ensure residents or clients receive medications according to established procedures, while maintaining professionalism, compassion, and compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize, and administer medications in accordance with approved procedures and care plans.
- Verify medication orders, labels, and schedules for accuracy prior to administration.
- Document medication administration, refusals, and any observed changes or concerns promptly and accurately.
- Monitor individuals for reactions, side effects, or other medication-related issues and report concerns to the appropriate clinical team member.
- Maintain secure storage, handling, and disposal of medications in compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory checks, medication counts, and restocking as needed.
- Support residents or clients with daily living needs in a respectful and professional manner, within scope of practice.
- Communicate clearly with nurses, supervisors, and other care team members to promote continuity of care.
- Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current medication technician certification or equivalent credential, if required by state or employer standards.
- Previous experience in a long-term care, assisted living, behavioral health, or similar care setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medication safety practices, documentation standards, and basic healthcare procedures.
- Ability to follow directions, maintain accuracy, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound judgment.
- Physical ability to perform essential duties, including standing, walking, lifting, and assisting with care tasks as needed.
