We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our team. The Medication Technician will be responsible for assisting residents with assisting with medication management and ensuring that prescribed medications are administered safely and accurately. This role is crucial in maintaining the health and well-being of our residents and requires a strong commitment to resident care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Administer medications to residents as prescribed by healthcare professionals, ensuring compliance with specific dosage and timing.
- Monitor and document medication effectiveness and any side effects experienced by residents.
- Maintain accurate Assisting with medication administration records (MOR) for each resident and ensure all documentation is completed in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist residents with understanding their medications, including purpose, potential side effects, and proper usage.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team regarding medication-related issues and changes in resident health status.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of medication supplies and manage proper storage and disposal of medications as per health regulations.
- Report any medication discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate healthcare personnel immediately.
- Participate in staff training and education related to medication management and safe practices.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and resident privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medication Technician training program is a must
- Certification as a Medication Technician or Medication Aide in accordance with state regulations.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (long-term care, assisted living, or hospital) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medication administration protocols, including dosages, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Ability to lift, move, or assist residents, if required.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach, and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
