    Job Description

    The Operations Manager is responsible for oversight of the Engineering, Production, and Service departments for the facility. The primary accountability of the role include oversight plant budget, capital projects, technology transfer, performance and reliability of plant systems, corporate EOHS and Quality standards compliance. Additionally the Operations Manager is responsible for identifying other potential opportunities for margin improvement. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Functions as a member of the plant Strategic Leadership Team which
    • Leads plant initiatives and performance goals.
    • Hands on approach, lead by example, and supports change
    • Provides resources to achieve plant strategy.
    • Ensures decision making processes are consistent, unbiased and in the best interest of the company.
    • Establishes clear direction and continuous improvement expectations for the plant.
    • Provides effective career development and planning for direct reports.
    • Develops and manages the overall facility capital budget and the facility budget.
    • Ensures that all operational aspects of projects as well as associated documentation are in compliance with local, Medico, legal and EOHS regulations.
    • Leads the plant Strategic Leadership Team to promote collaboration and alignment across functions in order to meet or exceed plant key performance indicators (KPI).
    • Works closely with the Production Manager, Service Manager to assure that the plant is meeting the needs of our work teams, customers, and company standards.
    • Accountable for the preparation and management of the capital, and facilities expense budgets.
    • Responsible for Staffing and Support needs of the plant.
    • Collaborate, align, and maintain a sound working relationship with bargaining units.
    • Ensures training for newly implemented methods and systems to continuously improve technical skill level.
    • Coordinates with the corporate Engineering Manager to ensure contractors follow all guidelines for safety, quality and food sanitation.
    • Develops and maintains the plant capital plan and overall capital plan implementation.
    • Accountable for ensuring compliance with Medico, local, state, and federal standards and guidelines related to EOHS, Quality, and Regulatory.
    • Drive the company values and principles of managing with respect in all daily business affairs
    • Works closely with Engineering for the timely capitalization of assets, management of surplus equipment and use of global idle equipment databases for capital avoidance.
    • Review and analyze plant process capacity data and identify bottlenecks. Develop five year site plan in partnership with Director of Operations.
    • Collaborate with the Strategic Leadership Team to identify, design, and implement continuous improvement projects across the plant.
    • Leverage analytical tools, business data, and financial information to improve the total performance of the plant and to forecast plant capabilities for growth opportunities.
    • Represents the company in outside community activities.
    • Leads and participates on cross functional project teams.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor's degree in a Technical field or Business with an emphasis in Production Operations Management.

    SKILLS:

    • 5 to 8 years manufacturing experience, preferably in a production plant.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in reporting analysis, presentation skills, project management, capital projects.
    • At least 3 years’ experience in management or supervisory role.
    • At least 5 years managing capital & departmental budgets.
    • Ability to travel up to 10%.
    • Must be proficient with computer to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, email.

    PHYSICAL:

    • Repetitive motions limited to repeated bending, stretching, twisting, reaching and pushing/pulling
    • Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs, carry up to 25 lbs, and move up to 25 lbs.
    • Exposure to reasonable noise level, changes in temperature, odors, humidity, lint, and dust
    • Must be able to wear Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
