    Florida SouthWestern State College is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in in our Humanities department to join our team of exceptional faculty. FSW faculty members have the opportunity to directly impact the college mission to inspire our students to ' Dedicate to Graduate'.

    As an open-enrollment institution with a diverse student body, four campuses in the Gulf Coast area, and a gallery bearing Robert Rauschenberg’s name, we are seeking dynamic, knowledgeable candidates committed to teaching and to fostering a community of intellectual engagement, ethically minded inquiry, and creative exploration. Candidates must be comfortable working with students from varying economic, ethnic, linguistic, religious, and academic backgrounds.

    The successful candidate in the Humanities position will have teaching responsibilities encompassing general education introductory survey courses in the humanities as well as introductory courses organized around special humanities topics. Candidates should demonstrate mastery of humanities content from across the ages within the Western tradition, must have transdisciplinary training, and must be able to guide students in beginning college composition. Any area of research specialization is acceptable, but candidates must be passionate about teaching in a general education curriculum for non-majors. Candidates will be expected to promote the essential value of a liberal arts education within a diverse contemporary global society both in the classroom and through extra-curricular projects. The course load is 5/5 (fall/spring).

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Doctoral or master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours from an interdisciplinary humanities program, or a combined total of 18 graduate semester credit hours from within two humanities disciplines (art/music history, lit, cultural studies, film studies, philosophy, theater studies, etc.) with a minimum of 6 credit hours from each. The preferred candidate will have some demonstrable experience in visual analysis.
    • Demonstrated ability to use technology in creating and delivering course content.
    • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught.
    • A commitment to professional development in both their field and in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
    • Experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds.

    Salary Range: $51,207.89 – $58,762.46 (for two terms): the maximum salary is based on a doctorate education level and 10 years of verifiable full-time teaching experience. Salary will be determined at the hire date.

    QUALIFICATIONS: ****

    • Associates Degree and one year related work experience or a H.S Diploma plus three years of related work experience.
    • Knowledge of One Stop services, partners and programs.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills, verbal and written. Strong Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet applications skills required.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and access to daily, reliable and insured transportation. Spanish speaking preferred.
