    Framatome is seeking an Early Career Tooling Design Engineer for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia. Working with a group of talented engineers in the Non Destructive Engineering (NDE) Organization, you will have the opportunity to develop, test and qualify innovative robotics, tooling, controls, and inspection technology for a diverse group of Framatome product lines. These product lines include Steam Generator Services and NDE Services.  As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the development cycle, starting at the conceptual stage and continuing through detailed specification, design, testing and site implementation. 

     

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Work as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team that includes Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers.
    • Create first-of-a-kind solutions to meet customer needs and respond to emergent issues during outage campaigns.
    • Prepare technical documents to support tool operation or design specification.
    • Perform conceptual and detailed robotic or tooling design utilizing SolidWorks and other CAD packages.
    • Design equipment that must meet rigid quality requirements and maneuver and operate in difficult environments. 
    • Support tooling qualification and acceptance testing.
    • Travel to plant sites to get hands-on experience and see your designs put into action.
    • Provide technical support for newly deployed tooling and robotics

     

     

    TRAVEL: Occasional/sporadic

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:

    BS in Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Technology or related degree program with emphasis on engineering design plus 0 -2 years of engineering experience. In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 year engineering degree.

    THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
    • Fundamental computer skills (Word, Excel, Access)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing
    • A pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution
    • Ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools, while maintaining various stages of production
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced atmosphere
    • Strong “hands on” work skills (assembly, equipment / tooling checkout and testing, etc.)
    • Ability to travel sporadically both internationally and domestically
    • Desire to see projects through to completion
    • Available to start work by August 1st 2022.
    • Working knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensional and Tolerancing).
    • Mechanical Design Experience, SolidWorks, SmarTeam, SAP knowledge, Welding, Machining, Microsoft Office experience.
    • Familiarity and experience with ASME code.
    • Co-op, intern, or work experience in the nuclear industry.
