    Job Description

    SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

    Prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim financial statements with supporting schedules. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the company’s monthly reporting, assisting the Operations Staff with Cost Analyses and compliance with Wrap-Up Insurance Programs. The position involves general accounting, property accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary control knowledge and experience.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Includes the following, however other duties may be assigned from time to time.

    • Manage the monthly financial close process: ensure all costs incurred are properly recorded, reconcile account balances, prepare and post journal entries, complete report preparations timely and accurately.
    • Maintain, document and review processes for internal controls
    • Maintains books and records on all company transactions and assets in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department as well as hiring and removal of personnel. This individual evaluates training requirements and has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs. Responsible for the departments work production, progress reporting of the departments, and ensuring all monthly, quarterly, and yearly tasks are completed timely and accurately.
    • Prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
    • Assists Controller and CFO in selected planning activities and assists the Company’s tax accountant with the preparation of corporate federal, state, and local income tax and intangible tax returns.
    • Responsible for the preparation of Cash Forecasts, Cash Reporting, and maintenance of the Cash Balances of all assigned bank accounts.
    • Furnishes internal and external reports as required. Revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient.
    • Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items for both book and tax purposes. Responsible for maintaining the Company’s Fixed Asset Accounting Records.
    • Assists the Controller and CFO in performing critical analyses of completed contracts and contracts in process. Communicates those results to operations managers, executives, and company officers.
    • Assists the Controller in establishing major economic objectives and setting accounting policies for the company.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manages the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable/Project Accounting supervisors. Provides leadership and accounting guidance to team members.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university is required along with three to five years of related experience in the construction industry.
