    Job Description

    *This position is not remote.

    Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients from a remote monitor station via live feed video.  Supports clinical staff by identifying risky behaviors and verbally redirecting the patient, summons staff when necessary, and handles emergencies and troubleshooting appropriately. Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.

    Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys TeleSitter Solution software.

    Maintains visual observation at all times.  Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room.  Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.

    Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate care to this patient population based on the patients individualized treatment plan as delegated by the RN.

    Participates in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving and upon completion of shift assignment.

    Provides patient with explanations as necessary, but does not counsel or provide opinions. Demonstrates behaviors in line with Service Excellence.

    Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.  Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues.  Assures patient environment safety.  Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to Charge Nurse.

    Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules, works to prevent unsafe conditions and behaviors, and participates in organizational and department safety programs.

    Documents behaviors and events according to hospital policy and procedures, either on paper or electronically.

    Initiates troubleshooting when there is a problem with either the software, hardware, or server.  Contacts RN staff and IT support as appropriate.

    Transfers patient log/information (if paper) to hospital according to the process set up to that specific hospital site once patient is discharged from AvaSys. 

    This position sit's onsite and is not remote. 

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    High School diploma or equivalent.  Requires in-service training.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Must be able to communicate effectively - must be able to work as a team member.  Prior experience in working with patients is helpful.

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Good communication skills. Good telephone etiquette. Able to identify scope of task and perform it in a timely and efficient manner.
