Status: Part-time, 20 hours/week

Schedule: Weekday afternoons

Summary:

The Insurance Verification Specialist performs insurance verification for all patients. This person identifies patient preauthorization/referral requirements and ensures they are met in a timely fashion to facilitate efficient billing and payment for elective, emergency, and urgent admissions as well as add-on procedures. S/he serves as an expert liaison between ancillary departments and other Patient Access Services areas. Exemplifies qualities to all team members in service, knowledge, and certification.

Required Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• One+ years of data entry, credit collections, or accounts payable experience
• Strong typing skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills as well as professional demeanor
• Ability to work independently
• Willingness to act as preceptor and train new employees

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a medical office or related
• Experience with Microsoft Office software 
• Experience with billing process/system
