    THE POSITION

    Under the supervision of the HIV Prevention Care Coordination Manager and the Director of Public Programs, the Biomedical Prevention Navigator helps clients enroll in HIV biomedical prevention services, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (“PrEP”) and post-exposure prophylaxis (“PEP”). Additionally, the Navigator represents Men’s Health Foundation in community planning groups, advisory boards, committees and conferences

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

    • Work with clients at increased risk of HIV to assess eligibility for and enroll clients in PrEP and PEP
    • Support Biomedical Prevention Program Manager in implementing County- and State-funded Biomedical prevention grants
    • Assist with client charts, update records and input patient-level data.
    • Provide individual counseling/assessments for potential PrEP/PEP clients.
    • Collaborate bi-weekly with biomedical prevention staff to identify client needs and generate innovative ideas to engage new patients into PrEP/PEP and other medical services.
    • Conduct PrEP/PEP-related capacity building activities with CBOs and other community health centers in LA county.
    • Conduct PrEP-related presentations and trainings to staff, patients, and community members in a variety of settings.
    • Attend professional conferences and summits to showcase the work of MHF and to gather the latest biomedical prevention trends and data.
    • Identify and participate in outreach events to enlist new PrEP/PEP and/or medical patients.     
    • Represent MHF in community planning groups, advisory boards and committees.
    • Develop a pilot PrEP/PEP Leadership Academy through PrEP Men2Men group participants to elevate their responsibilities and role in community advocacy and recruitment.
    • Along with biomedical prevention staff, co-produce outreach and recruitment events to bring visibility to PrEP/PEP program.
    • Participate in staff meeting and department meetings.
    • Other duties may be assigned, as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, psychology, counseling, nursing, human services, or health education OR A minimum of three years conducting outreach to vulnerable populations with the aim of improving health outcomes.

    • Experience and specific training/experience working with people living with HIV/AIDS preferred.

    • Proficient in MS Word and Excel software and tech savvy.

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.

     COMPANY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to pass a background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail.
    • Must be able to work flexible schedules.
    • Must have skills in research and development of operating policies and procedures.
    • Must take yearly flu shot and test for tuberculosis as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
