    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mental Health Medical Billing Specialist to join our dedicated team at a private group practice mental health clinic. As a key member of our billing department, you will contribute to the entire medical billing process, from answering clients' billing inquiries to processing insurance claims, ensuring proper documentation, and facilitating communication between clients, clinicians, and insurance companies.

    In this role, you will be integral in ensuring the clinic's billing process runs smoothly and efficiently, and that clients’ inquiries are addressed with care and professionalism. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and comfort in managing both administrative tasks and direct communication with clients, clinicians, and insurance companies.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Collect and verify necessary documentation from clients for insurance purposes.

    Accurately record patient information, including insurance details and billing codes.

    Verify patient insurance status and benefits prior to service.

    Answer clients’ and providers billing-related inquiries, providing clear and accurate information.

    Process insurance billing, ensuring all claims are submitted correctly and timely.

    Assist other Medical Billers with follow-up inquiries, claims processing, and troubleshooting.

    Participate and document weekly meetings with billing team.

    Run/use system reports to create and share documents for providers.

    Provide excellent customer service when interacting with patients, clinicians, and insurance representatives.

    Stay up to date with insurance requirements, billing codes, and regulatory changes specific to mental health services.

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience in medical billing is highly preferred; experience in mental health billing is a plus.

    Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.

    Excellent customer service and communication skills, including comfort with phone-based interactions.

    Ability to handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and professionalism.

    Experience working with insurance payors and understanding insurance processes and requirements.

    Familiarity with mental health services and applicable billing codes (e.g., CPT codes for therapy and psychiatric services) is highly preferred.

    Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams.

    Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and other healthcare regulations.

    Strong knowledge of RCM Reports and Excel.

    Additional Skills and Attributes:

    Proficiency with medical billing software and tools.

    Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

    High level of empathy and professionalism in interactions with clients dealing with sensitive mental health matters.
