Mental Health Occupational Therapist – Full-Time (Portland, OR)

This is a full-time, salaried opportunity designed for an Occupational Therapist who wants to build real depth in adult mental health over time.

At Holistic Community Therapy, we provide structured, community-based and virtual mental health services for adults. Our work involves comprehensive assessment, clinical formulation, and functional treatment of complex mental health presentations within an insurance-based outpatient model.

Mental health remains a small specialty area within OT. This role is best suited to someone who wants to build depth in that part of practice over time.

Our client population includes individuals from historically marginalized communities. We value cultural humility, lived experience, and clinicians who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

    ABOUT YOU

You may be early in your career, or you may already have experience and be looking for a role where mental health work is taken seriously.

You'll likely fit well here if you:

    • Work well independently and manage your time responsibly
    • Use supervision thoughtfully and ask questions when needed
    • Care about doing careful documentation and following through
    • Are comfortable building relationships with clients over time
    • Want to keep developing your clinical thinking rather than staying surface-level

This role tends to suit clinicians who value structure, steady growth, and meaningful long-term work with adults living with complex mental health challenges.

    ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Mental Health Occupational Therapist at Holistic Community Therapy, you will:

    • Deliver adult mental health assessments and occupation-based interventions within a mobile outpatient model (community-based + virtual)
    • Develop and implement measurable treatment plans that support functional independence and meaningful outcomes
    • Maintain a minimum of 22 completed client sessions per week through proactive scheduling and caseload ownership
    • Provide comprehensive assessment and functional mental health treatment within our structured outpatient model
    • Connect clients with appropriate community resources to support recovery
    • Complete accurate documentation within 24–48 hours
    • Participate actively in supervision and ongoing professional development

This is a salaried, full-time position. Clinicians set their schedules and structure their workweek, while meeting established clinical standards.

    Location requirements:

    • Must reside in the Portland, Oregon area
    • Active Oregon OT license required

    Required qualifications:

    • Active Occupational Therapist license in good standing (Oregon)
    • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience preferred. Mature new graduates with prior professional work experience and demonstrated responsibility will be considered
    • Current CPR certification
    • Clear background check
    • Eligible for insurance panel credentialing (we complete this process for you)

    CASELOAD & WORKLOAD EXPECTATIONS

    • This is a full-time position averaging approximately 36 hours per week.
    • Full-time status requires maintaining a minimum of 22 completed client sessions per week. Many clinicians maintain between 22–25 sessions depending on caseload flow.
    • Sessions are scheduled for 53 minutes, with a 15-minute documentation standard built into workflow expectations.
    • During onboarding, clinicians receive a guaranteed salaried base with structured support as caseload builds.
    • Paid team meetings, travel time, standard mileage reimbursement, and collaboration time are included.

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • Salaried position with benefits
    • 2 weeks paid vacation leave annually + 2 floating holidays
    • Sick leave accrues in accordance with Oregon law
    • 6% retirement match
    • Health reimbursement benefit available for full-time employees
    • Paid administrative time built into your schedule
    • Paid travel time + IRS mileage reimbursement
    • $35/month internet stipend
    • $200 annual home office stipend

    • Eligibility for QMHP certification supervision

Compensation: $72,000–$84,000 annually, depending on experience and readiness for the role.

While our compensation may differ from larger systems, this role offers something many larger settings do not: close supervision, visible growth, and the chance to build true specialty depth in adult mental health OT.
