Retail Grocery Sales Representative (Remote)

MentorWorks Education Capital, a workforce development company, is looking for a Retail Grocery Sales Representative to join one of our employer partners. Candidates will be screened by the MentorWorks team. If selected, the candidate will move on in the process to our employment partner.
Job Description
The purpose of the Retail Grocery Sales Representative is to develop a customer base through acquiring new accounts and achieving sales growth in the wholesale food categories while maintaining current relationships with existing customers.
- Represent the Company with professionalism, maintain a positive attitude.
- ****Work with other sales team members to help develop knowledge of the wholesale food industry and assist with growing sales.
- Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads. Communicates with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.
- Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs. Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
- Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest. Account management including setting a productive travel schedule to enable regular face-to-face meetings with customers, brokers, distributors as required.
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques. Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
- P rovides periodic territory sales forecasts. Design plans and programs to meet sales targets.
- Evaluate costs/margins to determine product pricing when selling to customers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Ability to write reports, correspondence and communications.
- Located in the Southeast U.S. or Southwest U.S. near a major airport. Ability to effectively present information to vendors and employees in a written and/or verbal format.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, assignments and tasks, monitoring use of time and appropriately using equipment, facilities and materials to provide timely and quality responses. Ability to learn and use all Company's applications.
- T en (10) years of experience in a strategic business development role specifically working with grocery retailers and/or foodservice distributors, and food brokers.
- ****Knowledge of and ability to competently use MS Office, internet and email; willingness to learn new software as needed. The ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Valid driver's license is required for driving to perform company business.
- ****A bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, management, or related field preferred.
