    MentorWorks Education Capital, a workforce development company, is looking for a CNC Set-Up Technician to join one of our employer partners. Candidates will be screened by the MentorWorks team. If selected, the candidate will move on in the process to our employment partner.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Check the Daily Production Schedule for requirements for CNC Machine Set–Ups and divide workload among other CNC Set–Up Technicians
    • Obtain job folders (engineering drawings, stacking diagrams, and setup sheets) from CNC Office or from CAD Designer
    • Understand and confirm proper paperwork, tools, gages, and bar stock material are present for the job
    • Pull all Tooling (inserts, etc.) and Gages from CNC Tool Crib
    • Layout out all Tooling and Gages at CNC Machine to be setup
    • Return (upload) previous job program from CNC Machine and get (download) new job program to CNC Machine
    • Install all tooling into the CNC machine turret tool positions
    • Touch off tools and update program with proper tool positions
    • “Dry run” a part to confirm touch off settings are accurate (to avoid tooling interference)
    • Run part and compare to engineering drawing and make fine adjustments

    Education/Experience:

    • Qualifications:
      • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to learn the setup of Computer Numeric Controlled Machines
    • Mechanically inclined in machine setups (knowledge and use of tools and measuring equipment)
    • Language Skills:
      • Ability to understand English (Basic Communication Skills)
    • Mathematical Skills:
      • • Basic Math Skills (measuring, use of calculator)
    • Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, comparators, depth micrometers, surface finish testers
    • Have their own or purchase a Venier Caliper for measuring parts and eye loop for inspecting parts

    Reasoning Ability:

    • Ability to carry out detailed and involved written and verbal instructions

    Physical Demands:

    • Must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
    • When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finger or handle or feel objects and tools or controls and talk or hear
    • Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms
    • Employee is occasionally required to walk – Specific vision abilities require close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

    Work Environment:

    • Will work with moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibration
    • Work in a machine shop environment where floors may be slippery due to oil spills, use of aqueous degreasing solution for floor cleanup, and metal chips
    • Noise level is usually moderate for a manufacturing plant
    • Work where a forklift is being operated –Safely remove bar stock from cantilever racks
