    Position Overview

    What makes Mentoring Minds’ products so special? The focus on critical thinking and the amazing curriculum that teachers and administrators love! The curriculum is developed by teachers, for teachers, and is the pillar of the Mentoring Minds’ mission to develop affordable, effective learning tools that help children think critically. The Vice President of Curriculum Development is a seasoned business executive responsible for the development of all digital and print content for Mentoring Minds’ products. The Vice President of Curriculum Development guides the day-to-day operations of the content development functional area, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other functional area leaders to ensure content is delivered on time and aligned with product plans.

    Essential Functions

    The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time with or without notice.  

    Responsible for all aspects relating to developing the content for Mentoring Minds’ products. Specifically, writing content for digital and print products, maintaining and exceeding quality standards, employee management, ensuring department heads stay on target, and moving products out in a timely manner.

    Engages in and supports research and outreach related to critical thinking in support of product efficacy

    Ensures that all content development efforts are coordinated with other functional areas, support strategic objectives, and are an effective use of resources.

    Provides leadership and strategic direction to the curriculum development functional area.

    Leads plans related to functional area investment in people, systems, and technology.

    Launches projects to meet the goals, objectives, and timelines to drive high-quality content.

    Supports recruiting, selecting, orienting and training of functional area employees and continue their development by educational opportunities and experiential growth opportunities.

    Manages team results by demonstrating clear leadership, counseling and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.

    Collaborates with peers in other functional areas of the organization.

    Provides sound financial management of budgets, including ongoing analysis of consulting contracts.

    Participates in short- and long-term strategic planning for the company.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Position Qualifications

    Strong operational and curriculum development experience: ideally has worked in a senior management role for 5+ years in operational management and product development.

    Outstanding strategic business, interpersonal, project management, and leadership skills.

    Proven leadership of a dynamic and highly-skilled team.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Ability to thrive within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions.

    Proficiency in managing multiple and competing priorities.

    Demonstrated ability to work with little supervision and under pressure to meet tight deadlines within budgetary constraints.

    Ability to consistently generate and execute new ideas.

    Exceptional collaboration abilities.

    Education experience preferred.

    Master’s Degree; PhD or EdD preferred.

    Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
