Non-Profit Program Coordinator
Job Description
MIMS seeks a Program Coordinator with primary responsibility for planning and managing the Health Scholars and Summer Internship Program. The Program Coordinator will also perform day-to-day administrative tasks supporting MIMS programs and projects. This position is ideal for someone interested in working with high school and college students in a health-focused non-profit.
POSITION TITLE: Program Coordinator
START DATE: Immediately
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time
COMPENSATION: $52,000-$57,000 annual salary plus benefits
BENEFITS: Up to $400/month for health care reimbursement, 5 days paid vacation leave, 10 paid holidays, professional development stipend and flexible work schedule

Mentoring in Medicine & Science is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to increase the number of underrepresented health professionals through mentorship, leadership development and career exposure.
ABOUT THE HEALTH SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The goal of the Health Scholars Program is to provide health skills certifications and training that provide students with transferable skills that can be used in their pursuit of a health career and beyond.
ABOUT THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP
The goal of the summer internship is to expose high school, college and post-baccalaureate students to hands-on clinical experience in a variety of health settings. MIMS participants are immersed in direct patient observation, interact with health professionals and attend daily leadership development seminars.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT RESTRICTED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Recruitment and retention of high school and college program applicants
Health curriculum development and maintenance
Scheduling and executing program activities and logistics including (but not limited to) guest speakers, field trip sites, catering and transportation
Advising and providing support to program participants, as needed
Implementing program evaluation materials, such as pre and post program survey and developing program reports for funders and supporters
Managing communication channels, including email contact lists, and social media accounts
Collaborating with partner programs and organizations to offer participants and alums additional supports and opportunities
Facilitating certification courses for MIMS students and community members
Providing support to Alumni Advisory Board
Working with Mentor Coordinator to match volunteers with mentees
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree required (equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
Experience with program coordination required
Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably with youth oriented programs
Demonstrated commitment to youth development and increasing diversity in the health workforce
Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to take direction and work independently on assigned tasks
High degree of drive, initiative and attention to detail
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Experience with event planning or developing curriculum is highly desired, but not required
Reliable transportation highly encouraged
LOCATION
Our office is located in Oakland but some travel to school sites will be required. A hybrid work schedule is possible, but not guaranteed.
