About Us:
Mentoring in Medicine (MIM) is a youth development organization dedicated to introducing students from Kindergarten to 12th grade to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through our innovative educational programs. Our upcoming MIM/LEGACY After-School and Saturday Program, themed "Creator Space: Yes, I Am An Author," is an exciting initiative aimed at fostering creativity, integrating STEM, and promoting healthy living among students.
Position Overview:
We are seeking certified teachers (K-8) and STEM instructors with at least one year of biology coursework to join our team for the MIM/LEGACY After-School and Saturday Program to deliver our co-teaching model. As an After-School Program Educator, you will play a vital role in delivering engaging and educational content, empowering students to create books, and promoting health sciences in an interactive and fun manner.
We are also seeking a full time, Bilingual, Spanish speaking Administrative Assistant to join our team!
General Responsibilities for All Grades:
Participation in a Digital Book Fair and Health Fair: All instructors will contribute to organizing and presenting the digital book fair and health fair, showcasing the students' work and promoting health education within the community.
Cross-Grade Collaboration: Encourage collaboration between grade bands, especially in
mentoring roles where older students support younger ones in their projects.
Qualifications:
Instructors with experience in K-12 education.
Passion for STEM education and creativity.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Enthusiasm for promoting healthy living among students.
Schedule:
Duration: 8 weeks from Monday, April 15th, to Thursday June 6th, 2024 with spring break during the week of April 22nd.
Sessions: Monday to Thursday from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm (elementary and middle school)
Sessions: Monday to Thursday from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm (high school)
Flexibility: You can work two of four days per week, provided we can match your schedule with another professional. However, preference will be towards those who can work all four days.
Saturday Academies during the month of May and June available for in-person and virtual instruction.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
