    Job Description

    The person hired for this position will lead Mercatalyst’s team of buyers and channel managers.  Mercatalyst’s buying process is dynamic and unique, and resembles sales processes in the manner in which we sell Mercatalyst’s various brands, channels, and solutions to product manufacturers and distributors.  

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Motivate, lead, and inspire top performance from every team member
    • Coach, mentor, and train team members to achieve their full potential
    • Use data, KPI, and other analytics to set goals and drive performance
    • Manage friendly competition and team dynamics
    • Recruit and train new team members
    • Collaborate with other managers and departments (e.g. merchandising, CS, etc)
    • Monitor trends and developments to guide team direction and focus
     
    

    SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

    • Motivating each team member to continually higher levels of performance and success.
    • Holding team members accountable to foundational performance levels of prospecting, business development, outreach, relationship maintenance, and communication.
    • Identifying obstacles to growth and success, and coaching team members through obstacles. 
    • Identifying new, overlooked, and underserved opportunities. 
    • Developing and expanding Mercatalyst’s manufacturer and vendor relationships.
    • Building and enhancing Mercatalyst’s brand awareness and reputation among manufacturers and vendors.
    • Cultivating a growth, achievement, and success mindset.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION

    • Experience leading, motivating, and coaching both individual and team performance, especially in a sales environment.
    • Knowledge of sales methodologies, processes, and psychology.
    • Strong business acumen and proficiency of retail math preferred.
    • Experience in home & housewares, electronics, health & beauty, or CPG preferred.
    • Experience in consumer retail or wholesale distribution a plus.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Solid history of driving strong negotiating positions, communicating competitive value, and exploiting new business opportunities.
