    ABOUT US

    Mercy Street of Dallas, Texas is a unique organization. Our programs are designed to expand on the school day by offering dynamic academic, social and recreational enrichment activities to students of all ages. Our programs promote and enhance the development of young people by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, influence and to become Christ centered. 

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

    • Two to Four-year college degree in a related field or two to four years of previous work experience with children and youth athletic programs
    • Master's degree may substitute for experience
    • Prior experience providing innovative fitness/athletic programs, including non-competitive activities with an emphasis on engaging youth in daily fitness activities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    •  Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft suite and databases
    • Ability to pass a criminal record background check
    •  Energy, maturing, leadership skills, strong initiative and ability to motivate youth through positive reinforcement
    • Ability to engage respectfully with youth, public, parents, coworkers, etc.
    • Valid Texas Driver's License and clean driving record
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus

    KEY RESULT AREAS

    MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL

    The coordinator is first and foremost considered to be a Minister of the Gospel.  This position furthers Mercy Street's religious mission by:

    • Add value to the spiritual growth of Mercy Street staff through leading chapel or Bible studies for staff as requested.
    • Contribute to the spiritual growth of Mercy Street students through leading Bible studies (such as group mentoring in West Dallas or South Dallas and Street Teams).
    • Following Jesus Christ and setting an example for others through their lifestyle.
    • Exhibiting a passion for sharing the Gospel with others.
    • Being willing and able to explain the message of the Gospel to kids and families of Mercy Street.
    • Being willing and able to counsel, shepherd, and disciple kids and families of Mercy Street in a manner consistent with the Bible.
    • Being willing and able to explain Mercy Street's beliefs and Statement of Faith in person or over the phone to kids and families of Mercy Street.
    • Being ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapel).

    OVERSEEING PRACTICE AND GAME SITES

    • Set-up and take-down of equipment
    • Ensuring the cleanliness of the facility or field
    • Monitoring the check-in table
    • Providing answers to questions or seeking others who can do so
    • Enforcing all Mercy Street rules and policies

    OFFICIATING GAMES AS NECESSARY

    • Responsible for upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforcing the rules of play.
    • Sole representative at many of the Mercy Street games; responsible to take & maintain control of games at all times.
    • Call the game as fairly as possible and will make calls on a deemed needed basis.
    • Make quick decisions with the best of his/her ability.

    GENERAL SPORTS FACILITY MAINTENANCE

    • Aid in the maintenance of Mercy Street sporting playing fields ensuring readiness for play.
    • Aid in maintaining Mercy Street Sports facilities including common areas, restrooms, building and storage facilities
    • Observe and communicate sports facility maintenance needs and communicate to supervisor.

    OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

    • Serve on appropriate committees; attend staff meetings, and other staff functions. 
    • Strengthen teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry. 
    • Fulfill necessary tasks, projects or roles as assigned from the Director of Sports Programs.
