    OVERVIEW

    The Community Engagement Manager's primary responsibility is to build relationships and partnerships within the communities Mercy Street serves. This role will develop a robust community engagement strategy and volunteer recruitment plan. The Community Engagement Manager is the initial point of contact for all individuals and groups wanting to volunteer with Mercy Street and is responsible for recruiting and mobilizing volunteers to serve in both Mercy Street programming as well as services that benefit Mercy Street's communities.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRED

    Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of experience in community engagement and volunteer recruitment. Spiritually mature, achievement oriented, big picture and detailed oriented, persuasive in communications, innovative, critical and forward thinker. Self-starter and implementer. Positive and Team player attitude. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to organize information and projects, and able to have a high attention to detail.  Cool and Calm under pressure. The ability to multi-task and work for several different directors.

    AUTHORITY

    1. Authority to accomplish this job is given by the Executive Director to whom the Community Engagement Manager is responsible.
    2. Authority is given to purchase equipment and materials necessary to accomplish this job.
    3. Authority to use a Mercy Street Credit Card.
    4. Authority to spend up to $1,000.00

    KEY RESULT AREAS

    MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL

    The Community Engagement Specialist is first and foremost considered to be a Minister of the Gospel.  This position furthers Mercy Street's religious mission by:

    • Following Jesus Christ and setting an example for others through their lifestyle.
    • Exhibiting a passion for sharing the Gospel with others.
    • Being willing and able to explain the message of the Gospel to kids and families of Mercy Street.
    • Being willing and able to counsel, shepherd, and disciple kids and families of Mercy Street in a manner consistent with the Bible.
    • Being willing and able to explain Mercy Street's beliefs and Statement of Faith in person or over the phone to kids and families of Mercy Street.
    • Being ready, willing, and able to lead or contribute to distinctly Christian activities (including, but not limited to, worship or staff chapel).

    RECRUITMENT

    • Lead efforts to recruit volunteers to serve in Mercy Street programs.
    • Assist with conveying Mercy Street's mission to potential partners, volunteers, and donors.
    • Assess department specific volunteer needs and keep accurate records of needs.

    BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS

    • Cultivate relationships and attend/facilitate regular meetings with Mercy Street's communities to enhance collaboration between Mercy Street and its community's stakeholders and organizations.
    • Assist in building and facilitating partnerships that enhance Mercy Street programming and services to Mercy Street's communities, partnerships including but not limited to: churches in West Dallas and South Dallas, colleges/universities, businesses, non-profits, etc.
    • Maintain community partner relationships in collaboration with Development Department, where applicable.

    COMMUNITY ADVOCACY

    • Provide Mercy Street with ongoing input, information, and materials (as requested) that support internal and external communication efforts about programming and opportunities.
    • Serve as community advocate to ensure that the needs of community members are a priority in Mercy Street's systems.
    • Participate in the continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision-making processes to assess the efficacy of programming.

    COMMUNITY SERVICES

    • Process benevolence requests and fill them in partnership with Director of Operations.
    • Act as a liaison between community members/Mercy Street families and other community organizations that can fill benevolence needs.

    EVENTS AND PROJECTS

    • Develop and oversee events and projects that serve Mercy Street's communities' needs and that enhance the communities' relationship with Mercy Street.

    • Develop and implement service projects for one-time volunteers that serve Mercy Street's programming and advances Mercy Street's mission.

    • Work in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator in planning and implementing events.
