    Job Description

    MERCYFIRST IS CURRENTLY SEEKING A BA LEVEL SOCIOTHERAPIST! (Based in our Sunset Park Brooklyn Location, currently partly REMOTE)   

    BRIEF SUMMARY OF POSITION: The SOCIOTHERAPIST is part of a team in our Therapeutic Family Foster Division.  This highly specialized role of SOCIOTHERAPIST works VERY closely with only a small, limited number of clients in order to provide intensive assistance and support to the foster families providing care to children who generally have a history of trauma and significant mental health issues that can be challenging to their Foster Parents.  The SOCIOTHERAPIST provides necessary emotional and casework support to these Foster Parents resulting in happier, safer environments for the children and the foster parents. 

    BRIEF OUTLINE OF ESSENTIAL TASKS:

    • Conduct regular casework sessions with each client in accordance with Federal, State, and Local mandates.
    • Conduct regular home visits and maintain regular contact with birth parents, foster parents, and/or resource persons in accordance with mandates
    • Holds bi-weekly individual Sociotherapist sessions with each client and family for their first 3 months in program
    • Document all contacts in appropriate computer systems within established timeframes
    • Prepare all required documentation on each case which could include progress notes, psychosocial reports, permanency hearing notes, FASPs, etc.
    • Attend legal proceedings such as family court hearings
    • Arrange, monitor and document home visits, family/sibling visits.
    • Respond to emergencies as needed and/or directe

    Currently offering a $38,000 base salary.
