Merit Technologies is looking for a Full-Time Structured Cable Technician who will provide management of daily activities using their technical resources to meet the operational needs of the company. As a Structured Cable technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable systems for our clients. This role involves working with a variety of cable types, including fiber optics and twisted pair cables. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will plan, design, and implement network and system engineering plans of moderate scope and complexity with assistance from our Project Manager. Requirements
Working under our Project Manager to complete daily tasks
Responding to incident tickets to resolve issues
Complete project tasks for our Data Centers and commercial jobs
Work within the ticketing system to update statuses on active work
Installing, moving, and removing devices.
Managing inventory
Installing, testing, moving, labeling, and removing copper and fiber cabling.
Generating reports
Perform quality checks of work performed
Provide feedback on work prioritization
Perform cable terminations and splicing, ensuring optimal signal quality and reliability.
Conduct site surveys to assess cable installation requirements and plan accordingly.
Test and certify cable systems to meet industry standards and client specifications.
Provide technical support to customers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Keep accurate records of cable installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on cable installations.
Collaborate with other technicians and team members to achieve project goals and deadlines.
Emergency Response:
Act swiftly and efficiently in response to emergencies, accidents, or breakdowns, dispatching assistance and resources as needed.
Although these incidents are rare, there may be situations that require onsite support after normal business hours.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent education
BICSI Installer 2 Certification preferred
CommScope experience is preferred
Experience in working with copper and fiber
A minimum of two years working in a similar role
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
