Merrick Bank, a leading and profitable credit card issuer in the non-prime marketplace is looking for a Collector I to work in the Recreation Lending department.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the daily collection of past due Recreation Lending loans. Insures delinquency is maintained at an acceptable low level as defined by management. Complies with all policies and procedures as outlined by management. Is knowledgeable of and complies with all state and federal collection laws and procedures.

Understanding of collection nuances in a sub-prime field
Knowledge of federal and state collection laws
Effective oral and written communications skills.
Working knowledge of a computer software related to specific job requirements.
KNOWLEDGE: Requires ability to perform work involving knowledge of general accounting fundamentals, business practices, or banking principles.
EXPERIENCE: Requires 1+ years in a related field – preferable in a similar portfolio with an emphasis on sub-prime lending.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable for daily work flow as assigned by management. Moderate supervision or review of individual’s work. Accuracy and trust are required.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Access to information on customer records. Regularly uses such information in carrying out job duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No direct supervision of employee(s). Consistently performs the same tasks as other members of the work group.
INTERACTION WITH OTHERS: Regularly has contact with people in the other departments, customers, or outside agencies and institutions, furnishing or obtaining information or reports where conditions require the use of tact to secure cooperation and maintain goodwill.
DECISION MAKING: Makes decisions requiring some independent judgment under general supervision and guidance of immediate supervisor or makes recommendations to those who participate in final decision-making process. Decisions are made within general control of procedures or reporting system.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Good working conditions. Some noise from office equipment or other employees. Some stress is experienced due to deadline pressures or interruption to work requiring a high degree of accuracy.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Responsible to maintains delinquency in individually assigned loans at target rates
Responsible to keep manager informed of current status and trends related to individually assigned loans
Complete skip trace work on accounts as required
Complies with all federal and state collection laws
Completes daily work flow
Compliance with Laws & Regulations
