Job Title: Ferry Operator (Part-Time)

Job location : Northern Neck

Weekly Schedule : Part-time (2-3 days, 16-24 hours per week)

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Ferry Operator / Captain to pilot ferry vessels safely across state waterways. You will transport vehicles and passengers while maintaining strict adherence to U.S. Coast Guard and VDOT regulations. [1, 2]

Key Responsibilities

• Vessel Operation: Safely pilot and maneuver the ferry boat in varying weather conditions and marine traffic.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all U.S. Coast Guard safety rules and VDOT operational policies.
• Passenger & Vehicle Management: Oversee the safe loading and unloading of cars, trucks, and passengers.
• Crew Leadership: Direct and coordinate deckhands and crew members during transit and docking.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Licensing: Must hold a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) endorsed as Master (minimum 1600 gross tons, Inland).
• Certifications: Must possess a valid Radar Observer Certificate and a Marine Radio Operator Permit.
• Driver's License: Must hold a valid driver's license.
• Skills: Proven ability to pilot large marine vessels safely and respond calmly in emergency situations.
