Job Description
Mesivta Yesodei HaTorah High School is seeking a dynamic and relationship-focused teacher for our general studies program. We are seeking an energetic and creative teacher that will continue our progress in the areas of high-quality instruction that is focused on developing skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Incorporates leadership and problem-based learning. The general studies classes begin at 3:30 PM and run for four - 40 minute periods. We are seeking someone to teach one social studies/civics from 3:30 - 4:10 PM, Monday through Thursday. This is excellent job for someone who is looking to teach 9th or 10th Grade History/Civics in a focused learning environment that offers exceptional compensation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches a Social Studies curriculum
- Establishes and adjusts instructional goals and objectives to reflect the school’s goals, curriculum, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one’s students.
- Designs lessons that provide the opportunity for critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real-world issues.
- Establishes and maintains standards for behavior that foster student agency and positive relationships among students and families.
- Plans learning activities to address unique and individual differences among students and promotes hands-on, workshop-type learning.
- Develops, administers, and evaluates high-quality formative and summative assessments that reflect a balance of content knowledge and critical thinking skills.
- Monitors and evaluates students’ progress.
- Encourages projects and oral presentations which demonstrate comprehension and mastery.
- Works closely with the school leadership to collaborate on instruction and planning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree preferred.
- Recommended certification: Social Studies (025, 026, 028); or closely related subject area
- Experience in the use of educational technology.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Demonstrated interest and aptitude for working with Yeshiva students of all skill levels and abilities.
