    Abacus Staffing – Now Hiring Experienced Metal Fabricators

    Abacus Staffing is seeking skilled Metal Fabricators to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in metal fabrication, welding, blueprint reading, layout, fitting, and assembly. Candidates will play a key role in designing, cutting, shaping, fitting, and welding metal components to create high-quality finished products that meet client specifications.

    Pay Rates

    Metal Fabricator I

    ?? $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

    Metal Fabricator II

    ?? $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

    Schedule

    Monday – Friday ?? 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

    • 30-minute unpaid lunch
    • 15-minute paid break

    Position Summary

    The Metal Fabricator is responsible for laying out, fitting, welding, cutting, and assembling structural steel, sheet metal, machinery frames, and custom metal components according to engineering specifications, blueprints, and client requirements. Successful candidates will possess strong fabrication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    Metal Fabricator I

    • Cut and shape raw metal into parts and components for assembly and fabrication.
    • Read blueprints, drawings, sketches, written instructions, and verbal directions.
    • Create accurate cut lists from blueprints and engineering drawings.
    • Lay out and assemble fabricated components according to specifications.
    • Operate fabrication equipment including rollers, drill presses, brakes, flame cutters, and other metalworking machinery.
    • Grind, polish, and finish fabricated products.
    • Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications and tolerances.
    • Utilize precision measuring instruments and fabrication tools.
    • Position and align subassemblies using fixtures and jigs.
    • Work accurately to meet production schedules and deadlines.
    • Assemble parts using welding, bolts, rivets, clips, and other fastening methods.
    • Maintain quality standards and reduce scrap by ensuring dimensional accuracy.
    • Demonstrate teamwork and maintain a positive attitude in a collaborative environment.

    Metal Fabricator II

    In addition to all Level I responsibilities:

    • Read and interpret advanced blueprints, fabrication drawings, and engineering plans.
    • Fabricate projects independently using work plans and technical drawings.
    • Perform advanced measuring, cutting, and fitting operations.
    • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in layout and fit-up techniques.
    • Ensure fabrication projects meet quality, safety, and production requirements.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Metal Fabricator working with various shapes, sizes, angles, and complex assemblies.
    • Must be certifiable in:
      • MIG Welding
      • TIG Welding
      • Stainless Steel
      • Carbon Steel
      • Aluminum Fabrication
    • Ability to communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and customers.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
    • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or fabrication environments.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
    • Ability to lift and move 50+ pounds when necessary.
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.

    Preferred

    • Experience working within the themed entertainment, scenic fabrication, or custom architectural fabrication industry.

    Working Conditions

    • Warehouse and fabrication shop environment.

    • Work environment requires constant awareness of safety hazards and surroundings.
    • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary.
    • Must be able to walk, stand, climb, hear, and see sufficiently to perform essential job functions.
    • Must possess agility, balance, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
