  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Assist in fabrication and assembly of custom Switchgear structures of varying size and scope to meet client and product specs and prepare the same for shipment. Good understanding of machinery safety. Use hand and small power tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills as required. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Infrequent travel may be required for install/service.

    Shifts:

    1st Shift: Tuesday to Friday 7:00am – 5:30pm
    2nd Shift*: Monday to Friday 4:00pm – 12:30am

    *$2/hr shift differential to be applied.

    Responsibilities:

    The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. DVM retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.

    • Assist with the handling of raw steel and copper.
    • Assist in operation of metal shop machinery, including punch, brake, shear and saws.
    • Weld sheet metal goods and prep for coating.
    • Assemble metalwork and handle sheet metal goods.
    • Follow blueprint diagrams.
    • Be proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools.
    • Fabrication, including saw cutting and drilling.
    • May be required to cross train, supporting other sections of the Company.
    • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Minimum 2 years in general mechanical or metal working or associated field.
    • Experience in the use of hand tools and hand power tools
    • Valid driver’s license (for service-related positions).
    • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening (if applicable).
    • Ability to read blue prints.
    • Follow verbal directions to meet production schedule.
    • Ability to use ruler, scale, tape measure, calipers
    • Possess basic tools including gear wrenches, impact gun, torque wrenches, metric & standard sockets.
    • High dedication to quality of results to avoid rework.
    • Ability to work under pressure/ time constraints.
    • Able to work with minimal direction and achieve objectives.

    Additional Skills for consideration:

    • Welding certification.
    • Forklift experience and/or certification.
    • Carpentry skills.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift materials as required.
    • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination
    • Visual acuity to read blueprints, read measurements and inspect parts
    • The job can be physically demanding, requiring standing for extended periods and potentially lifting and moving heavy materials (up to 50lbs).
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noise, dust, and temperature variations (with appropriate PPE provided).
    • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
