    Job Description

    Overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation and presentation of estimates. JOB DESCRIPTION  

    ·       Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and materials pricing

    ·       Review project plans, requirements and specifications

    ·       Review preliminary quotes and pre-bid estimates with Project Manager Secure all bid documents

    ·       Prepare subcontractor bid list and submit drawings to subcontractors

    ·       Perform post-bid buyouts

    ·       Maintain good relationship with suppliers and subcontractors

    ·       Supervise and train estimating staff

    ·       Determine labor and construction equipment costs

    ·       Prepare conceptual estimates

    ·       Submit requisitions for purchase of materials

    ·       Compare competitive trade bids

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

    ·        10 - 15 years of Commercial Drywall Estimating experience

    ·        Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience

    ·        Ability to read and understand specifications and drawings

    ·        Ability to make accurate judgments and calculations

    ·        Working knowledge of construction costs and principles

    ·        Estimating experience (quantity takeoffs, purchasing accounting; engineering design knowledge and project management experience desirable)

    ·        Drafting and computer skills

     

    Salary:  $130,000 - $175,000

    Additional Information

    The Chief Estimator oversees analysis of past performance on projects and helps to establish estimating standards for future estimates for projects in the Western half of the United States.  They also assist in oversight of the effectiveness of the bid management and estimating software.  This person will assist in establishing standardized estimating methods and processes and training other estimating personnel in their use and have the final word on procedures, processes, techniques and personnel decisions for assigned projects.
