    This requisition is for an Information Technology (IT) Instructional Designer.

    Candidate will be working as a team member within the IT organization of the Georgia DOT and report to a Team Leader/Supervisor. Supplier provides workforce augmentation services and is not employed by Georgia DOT as an independent contractor. Candidates will work with supporting IT team members (system architects, application developers, database, network, server, etc.) and interacting with business units to understand the technical/business functionality and develop technical training materials.

    The IT Training Team is composed of 3 IT Trainers and a Team Leader. The team delivers training across the 7 Georgia DOT Districts in the State of Georgia. Internal/external users, customers, or stakeholders will be trained to operate or support Georgia DOT IT applications/systems.

     

    Training content development will include Georgia DOT developed in-house software and systems – (Training will be provided upon hire), vendor COTS products, vendor COTS-customized products, and vendor custom products implemented by Georgia DOT. Georgia DOT IT primarily utilizes Microsoft (SQL Server, SharePoint, etc.), Oracle (Databases, Golden Gate, Hyperion, Primavera P6, OBIEE, etc.), and Esri (ArcGIS) based products integrated with Georgia DOT data systems and systems architecture.

     

    Possibility for some travel to Georgia DOT sites throughout the state. Must maintain personal credit card for any expenses, Georgia DOT will not provide advance payment on expenses, but will reimburse authorized expenses. Georgia DOT will reimburse authorized travel expense lodging and meals. Must have a clean driving record and maintain a valid driver’s license and capable of driving/operating a car. Georgia DOT will reimburse authorized travel use of a personal vehicle use or rental car.

     

    Candidate must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, lift, etc. to setup training centers and transport course materials.

    Vendor must purchase $20.00 identification card for candidate, which is non-refundable.

    All candidates submitted for this or any other Job Posting that are currently working under a VISA, Employment Authorization Card, or any other authorized programs of the Federal Government must have a current active VISA or status in order to be submitted. Candidates that have an expired VISA or are in the process of applying for an extension, transfer, or a new VISA, should not be submitted.

     

    The Department has 12 holidays, which consultants are not allowed to work nor make up any time for those holiday weeks without management's approval. Consultants are not to take extended leave during their first year of service (e.g. 1 week or greater). Consultants may not telework or work a compressed work week schedule during their first year of service.

     

    The position end date is set for the end of the Georgia DOT fiscal year by law. Georgia DOT may exercise the option to renew contracts in one year increments. Several successful consultants continue working for several years with contract extensions. However, Georgia DOT is under no obligation to extend contracts and may terminate employment at any time.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Adhere to the priorities, objectives, and guidance of Team Leader and IT management
    • Participate in IT Projects to design and develop learning materials
    • Produce effective training presentations, tutorials, instructor and student guides, lesson plans/exercises in multiple media and formats suitable to course audience
    • Create, review, and update training materials and documentation based on user feedback, classroom surveys, IT version updates, and IT support tickets
    • Proactively and effectively communicate with Team Leader and IT management
    • Creating engaging learning activities and compelling course content
    • Working with subject matter experts and identifying target audience’s training needs
    • Developing training content to meet instructional goals/objectives
    • Create practical examples that students can apply within their use of IT application/system in their work environment
    • Applying tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
    • Measure/test user knowledge retention and transfer
    • Apply tested instructional design theories, practice and methods
    • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
    • Collect and maintain training data to support department key performance indicators
    • Conduct training courses, customer webinars, on-site customer training, and user group sessions
    • Establish effective relationships throughout the organization, both within IT and across business units/customers/stakeholders to identify/address gaps in user training
    • Remain knowledgeable about Georgia DOT IT applications and business strategies as related to training materials and courses
    • Assist technical managers, IT developers, and specialists to explain complex technical concepts and business/data workflows to non-technical audiences
    • Provide user training support with IT product launches and go-lives
    • Travel to Georgia DOT business locations (within State of Georgia) to conduct training
    • Ability to maintain professionalism and order within the classroom to complete course objectives
    • Ability to adapt/respond in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused IT environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Visual design skills and ability to storyboard
    • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts
    • Ability to develop and instruct in the development of web based training
    • Bachelor's degree in or Technical Communications, Engineering, MIS, IS, IT or other technical field
    • 6+ years advanced skills with Microsoft Office
    • 4+ years of experience with web based course delivery tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, and Lectora
    • 4+ years of experience in the field of IT technical training and train-the-trainer training
    • 4+ years of experience in developing role based end user training materials for IT applications/systems
    • 1+ years of experience maintaining courses within Learning Management System
    • Strong leadership, problem solving, oral presentation, technical writing, planning, and adult-learning/workforce teaching skills
    • Experience in course design and development
    • Experience in developing training content (e.g. user manuals, handouts, slides, exercises, and web based training)
    • Ability and flexibility to travel frequently within State of Georgia
    • Strong commitment to providing superior customer service
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Able to develop training content in collaborative team environment and work independently with minimal supervision to deliver training
    • Hands-on, can-do attitude

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Oracle Learning Management System work experience
    • Experience with developing content for workforce teaching and instruction
    • Strong technical background in computers, application development, transportation, or government
    • Familiarity with ITIL or REMEDY

    EDUCATION: Actively enrolled in a school of professional nursing and is engaged in clinical study. Must have completed and passed the first semester of study and clinical experience in the school of nursing.

    EXPERIENCE: Requires a specific body of knowledge normally acquired through a school for professional nursing.

    HIRING PLAN:

    Interviews Tuesday, November 5, 2019 (must apply and be notified by Human Resources to attend) from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Location will be given when the invitation is extended.

    Weeks of 11-18-19 thru 11-29-19 - students selected will be notified of placement and will be scheduled for new hire paperwork.

    Start date - Monday, December 16 thru Friday, December 20, 2019 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is the ONLY week we have an onboarding while you are out for the Christmas holidays.
