  • Responsibilities

     

    The Technical Trainer II will train customers, contractors and company personnel in the application, operation,

     

    maintenance, and installation of Company software products.

    Primary Responsibilities:

     

    • Develop training plans and curricula and manage training development and delivery.

    • Develop training plans for Support Services, Sales and other departments as new releases of software and hardware become available.

    • Develop, deliver and maintain on-line training modules currently delivered via WebEx.

    • Develop and teach classes in the most advanced applications, operation, maintenance and installation of company software products.

    • Teach classes at regional training facilities, customer locations and via WebEx.

    • Coordinate training activities (room setup, courseware shipping, travel accommodations, etc.) for all training events.

    • Deliver presentations and seminars at trade shows and user conferences as requested.

    • Research the training needs of our customers and implement or recommend improvements.

    • Develop and maintain courseware material used for training events. This material may include manuals, handouts, presentations, multi-media, etc.

    • Develop and deliver customized training at customer locations.

    • Guide students in the performance of class exercises.

    • Coordinate the learning environment and evaluation of student performance against objectives.

    • Assist in training and evaluating other instructors against certification requirements.

    • Receive feedback for classes conducted and communicate that to the training group.

    • Support other departments as required.

    • Represent Company in a positive, professional manner when working with both external and internal customers.

    • Support and adhere to Company’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy.

    • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

     

    Required Skills

    • Understanding of how utilities operate, various back end IT systems (MDM, AMI, OMS, GIS, DMS, SCADA, CIS, DRMS) that they use, information stored in these systems, their functionality and operation.
    • Understanding of the electric power distribution system, power flows, typical distribution assets and their use, common utility operational concerns, common electrical terminology.
    • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
    • Can develop and design training curricula.
    • Can run software demos for customers.
    • Ability to consistently project Landis+Gyr core values.
    • Strong self-initiative and willingness to accept challenging projects.
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
    • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
    • Strong planning and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to work according to established training procedures.
    • Ability to develop industry standard training sessions.
    • Ability to meet all requirements for instructor certification.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
    • Individual must be willing and able to travel at least 50%.
    • Must have valid driver's license.
    • Excellent Computer knowledge.
    • Solid skill in Microsoft Office Suite.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor degree in electronics, computer science, or related field, plus three to five years’ experience in technical training.
    • Electric utility industry experience strongly preferred.
    • Solid understanding of smart grid and smart metering industry.
    • Advanced level knowledge and understanding of software analytics and utility data.
