  • Responsibilities

    Under direct supervision and following standard procedures, investigates, evaluates and resolves/disposes of general property, casualty and/or workers compensation claims to determine the extent of company liability; may include determination and evaluation of coverage, compensability, liability and damage in accordance with policy provisions by performing the following duties.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Follows corporate policies, procedures, and fair claims handling practices

    2. Investigates claims to determine validity and extent of liability, including:

    a. Obtains information necessary to properly investigate and evaluate each case by corresponding with agents, insureds, claimants, witnesses and others b. Reviews and evaluates documentation, including applications, reports, and statements c. Monitors appropriate claim outcomes through self-audit process d. Delivers superior customer service to policyholders and agents, ensuring appropriate and timely resolution of claims service issues e. Ensures legal, regulatory and fair claims handling compliance

    1. Sets or recommends reserves based on results of claim investigation.

    2. Within defined authority, manages, evaluates and concludes claims. Prepares and maintains claim reports.

    3. May provide interaction with insureds, agents, claimants, attorneys, and other service providers, including:

    a. Conducts in-depth interviews and/or scene inspections b. Attends settlement conferences and/or trials

    1. May serve as a member of project teams, contributing to the achievement of project objectives.

    2. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college/technical school; or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training.

    • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

    • Strong analytical skills; able to complete methodical root cause analysis and troubleshoot technical issues
    • Highly adaptable in a dynamic work environment
    • Accustomed to working in an environment driven by high standards for service and system delivery
    • Excellent team player; self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised
    • Ability to plan and maintain schedules  
    • Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solving problems and obtaining solutions
    • Experience with Oracle or SQL Server database a plus
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Self-motivated, proactive, able to work under stressful conditions
    • Demonstrate customer focus with proven ability to resolve customer issues appropriately
    • Strong customer communication and service skills
    • Experience with wireless technologies is a plus
    • Background in software quality testing desired
    • Utility domain knowledge preferred
    • Experience with Windows desktop/server platforms and/or Unix, Networking and Scripting is a plus
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize
    • Ability to travel approximately 25%.
