    Covia is looking for a dynamic PRODUCTION/SHIPPING/QUARRY & QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR who will have a positive impact on the OPERATIONS team at its ST. CANUT location. 

     

     

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

     

    • Assume responsibility for and maintain product quality standards in plant operations on shift.
    • Recommend changes in standards, work methods, and procedures to improve performance, productivity, profitability, and safety.
    • Ensure that Company assets are used in a manner consistent with their designed function and that maximum utilization is achieved.
    • Report major problems that occur on shift immediately to management.
    • Initiate maintenance requests and follow-up on completion.
    • Develop and maintain good labor and employee relations.
    • Direct and ensure safety and good housekeeping. Maintain active involvement in safety program and ensure safe work operations and aid in safety training of personnel. Enforce safety and health rules.
    • Ensure work standards, policies, plans and procedures are maintained.
    • Maintain open communication with the Production and Shipping Supervisors on other shifts, with the Maintenance Department, Purchasing & Warehousing Supervisor, and Safety Supervisors.
    • Manage / Administer the Plant-Specific Quality Improvement Program (QIP) and Laboratory Procedures manual
    • Recommend, plan and manage sampling & testing aimed at improving product quality and/or increasing process efficiency.
    • Run analytical tests as needed, such as sieve tests, moisture, XRF, etc.
    • Repair and maintain the analytical equipment.
    • Record all data on proper forms or enter into computer database.
    • Generate Certificate of Analysis for customers as needed.
    • Prepare monthly product samples for analysis at CASL.
    • In the plant or mine, gather samples or perform sampling of various materials.
    • Interface with plant operators, supervisors, or customer service personnel to correct quality problems, change ore blends to achieve desired final product, highlight trends that could cause a problem, etc.
    • Assist with development of new and/or revised product specifications as required.
    • Perform investigations and root cause analysis of customer complaints as required.
    • Ensure timely and accurate daily reporting of all process-control analysis to plant supervision and plant management.
    • Write and present reports as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

     

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5-7 years of front line mining sector supervisory experience required
    • Recent four-year degree in business or engineering required in lieu of supervisory experience
    • Post-secondary education an asset
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Microsoft Office proficiency required
    • Candidate must be safety focused, detail oriented, and a natural leader
