Patient Safety Associate (PSA)
Job Summary:
MHS is looking for a team player that is comfortable sitting calmly, quietly, and patiently with patients needing around the clock support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Performs basic patient monitoring activities under the supervision of an assigned Nurse.
· Observes the patient's activity and behavior and communicates on a regular basis to the Nurse in charge or a technician. Documents patient activity every 15 minutes.
· Accompanies patients to medical procedures and tests and maintains observation of the patient during the procedures and tests. Assists patient to and from bathroom.
· Responds to changing patients'/unit's needs. During a patient or environmental emergency, may serve as a runner or may transport patients as directed.
· Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living, such as feeding, hair, skin, and oral care.
· Assists with bathing, linen changes and repositioning, as directed by the Nurse in charge.
· Does not engage in any other activities which would distract them from the patient. Activities such as reading, studying, sleeping, socializing, television, and phone use are prohibited.
· Responds courteously and promptly to patient call bells and, if necessary, notifies the appropriate care team member promptly.
· Maintains strict confidentiality related to work information (in accordance with HIPAA).
Qualifications and Requirements:
· High School Diploma/ GED or 3 years of equivalent work experience.
· Must pass background and drug screenings.
· Able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
· Must successfully complete Patient Safety Associate (PSA), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) trainings.
· Required to meet immunization or health screening requirements.
Physical Requirements:
· Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, see, and hear.
· Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
· Must be able to push and pull (on wheelchair) 100 to 350 pounds, frequently over considerable distance.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Salary: $16.00 - $17.75 per hour
