    POSITION SUMMARY

    Develop and grow a commercial real estate (CRE) loan portfolio and manage commercial real estate loan accounts. Strive to ensure new loans meet established lending requirements and provide maximum profitability to the bank at minimum risk. Provide support with all commercial lending activities to assist the department with meeting commercial banking goals and objectives.  The job may be titled Vice President or Assistant Vice President at the discretion of the Group Leader and Chief Lending Officer.

     

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and manage a CRE portfolio. Call on prospects, industry contacts, and customers. Attend events to develop and cultivate referral network. Maintain productive relationships with current customers and their referrals.
    • Interview CRE loan applicants and collect financial and related data. Evaluate creditworthiness in accordance with Lending guidelines and procedures.
    • Establish and negotiate, where necessary, terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.
    • Approve or decline CRE loans within scope of authority granted by the Executive Committee, Senior Loan Officer and Bank policy. Develop material for loan presentations, and make presentations to the Executive Committee as required in accordance with loan authority and commercial loan policy.
    • Recommend CRE loans for approval or decline to the SVP/VP Group Leader or EVP, Senior Loan Officer.
    • Inspect real estate for construction advances, ensuring work is satisfactorily completed and that applicable title rundowns, lien waivers, contracts, bills and signatures are obtained.
    • Serve as primary contact officer on CRE loans personally originated or assigned, maintaining contact with borrowers and acting as agent of bank in all matters. Advise customers, where appropriate and within scope of expertise, concerning business management and financial matters.
    • Monitor credit files and borrower activity to ensure that complex credit files are reviewed annually for compliance with current financial information, risk assessment and all policy and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in community affairs to contribute expertise, understand the needs of the business community, increase the Bank’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities. Cross-sell Bank products and services to prospects and customers.
    • Keep abreast of all regulations, policies and procedures relative to CRE lending and ensure a compliant portfolio. Keep abreast of real estate, economic and general business trends in order to take advantage of emerging opportunities in commercial lending.
    • Perform other lending related duties and undertake special projects as assigned by the Group Leader or Senior Loan Officer.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • H.S. Diploma or equivalent
    • 3+ years experience in commercial lending, real estate lending, financial statement analysis and credit administration

     

    SKILLS

    • Knowledge of commercial loan products
    • Proficiency with common office software
    • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically, or through other means to individuals and groups
    • Ability to meet sales goals

     

    PREFERENCES

    • Post secondary education in business administration, finance, or its equivalent in industry training and experience
    • Prior experience meeting goals
    • Multilingual capabilities and/or multicultural experience

    • MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL AND WORK AWAY FROM HOME WHEN REQUIRED

    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

    • Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

    • Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time

    • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required

    • MSHA training is a plus but not required.
