  • Responsibilities

    The Program Director (PD) leads management in the daily operations of the Northern Virginia I/DD programs, community based and residential programs. The Program Director develops, implements, and manages a comprehensive set of support services for 58 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This PD will require program oversight, as well high engagement with stakeholders. A knowledge of Virginia I/DD regulations and coalitions is required. The PD will engage managers (Clinical Coordinators and Residential Coordinators) and staff (DSP’s) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve a quality life in the community. The EPD is a self-starter and problem-solver with solid organizational skills. The position. The PD will travel throughout Northern Virginia.

    • Serves as an advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to ensure the services provided promote independence in new and innovative ways
    • Supports the day-to-day operations to assure a positive efficient organization that meets all regulatory requirements
    • Assures program quality and organizational stability through development and implementation of standards and controls, systems and procedures, and regular reviews and revisions
    • Develops and manages effective supports for persons with I/DD in compliance with federal, state, county, and agency policies and procedures.
    • Strong knowledge of Virginia Waiver’s policies and procedures, as defined Department of Behavioral Health and Disability Services (DBHDS).
    • Strong knowledge of WAMS system.
    • Strong knowledge of Human Rights and to ensure that VOAC sets the standard in being person centered and upholding a person’s rights throughout programming.
    • Screens, interviews, hires, and manages staff under supervision of the Vice President of Virginia Services.
    • Provides/coordinates in-service training and assignment of responsibilities to program staff.
    • Serves as a liaison and consultant with the regional Community Service Boards, medical staff, community agency workers, family, care providers, and others.

    Required Skills

    • This position requires driving the company vehicle (up to 15 passengers) for company business including transporting clients/residents. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.

    • Valid driver’s license in jurisdiction of residence

    • Vehicle liability coverage if driving personal vehicle (on occasion, may be required to transport clients in personal vehicle)

    • May be required to drive a van

    • Acceptable EBI background, FBI Fingerprint, Child Protective Services, OIG Exclusion check

    • Negative Drug/TB Screening

    • CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed

    Required Experience

    • A Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health, Sociology, or a related field and four years of working with individuals with I/DD populations. Two-three years of supervisory experience is also required.
    • A Bachelor’s degree with five years’ experience and at least one year in a supervisory capacity, may be substituted.
    • Experience in Virginia I/DD regulations, waiver, human rights, budget management, personnel administration, advocacy, communication, and working with community stakeholders is preferred.      
    • A successful candidate must pass the residential support examination designated by DMHMRSAS, be certifiable under the Medicaid Waiver program and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
