    The Maintenance Shift Technician will perform dual craft (mechanical and electrical) industrial maintenance related tasks as required to ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical and mechanical equipment. The position is a senior craftsman level job in either electrical or mechanical, with a basic understanding and aptitude in the alternate discipline. The Shift Technician will work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.  

     

    In the Maintenance Shift Technician role, you will

     

    • Communicate with operations, maintenance, and technical personnel.
    • Use technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings as references.
    • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and make necessary repairs.
    • Watch for issues with equipment operation, correct where possible, and advise supervisor of defects needing attention.
    • Help train operations on monitoring and troubleshooting of equipment.
    • Assist in troubleshooting components related to plant process control systems.
    • Complete preventive maintenance on equipment per work instructions.
    • Install and/or replace equipment, as needed, to support maintenance work orders and projects.
    • Follow maintenance and housekeeping procedures, including those related to maintain food safety and good manufacturing practices.
    • Inform supervisor of any issues that could affect food safety, quality, or ES&H.
    • Have a strong ES&H knowledge related to operation and maintenance of industrial mechanical and electrical equipment.

    Required Skills

    • Successfully pass the Lawrence plant's written and practical qualifying electrical and mechanical tests.
    • Basic electrical skills include:  proficiency in AC/DC theory and analysis, power distribution, troubleshooting motor and machine control circuits, wiring and conduit installation, blueprint reading, and familiar will Allen Bradley PLC (SLC and ControlLogix) software.
    • Basic electronic skills include:  essentials of industrial electronics, fundamentals of process instrumentation, and digital logic.
    • Basic mechanical skills include:  proficiency in industrial, mechanical and millwright practices, sheet metal practices, pipe fitting, blueprint reading, electric arc welding and centrifugal pump overhaul and seal replacement, troubleshooting proficiency with rotating equipment, knowledge of lifting and rigging.
    • Strong ability to communicate productively with operations, maintenance, and technical personnel.
    • Ability to interpret and use technical manuals, blueprints and equipment drawings, and engineering sketches to troubleshoot, modify, and install mechanical and electrical equipment.
    • Broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, how they operate, and how they are maintained.
    • Ability to follow all relevant ES&H, Food Safety, cGMP, and ISO procedures.
    • Ability to safely exit the plant in the event of an emergency.

    Required Experience

    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • Two years industrial electrical and mechanical experience required.
    • Verifiable electrical and mechanical skills.
    • Process controls (PLC) experience preferred.
