    Cambridge International Systems has a career opportunity for a Database Administrator in Northern Virginia. The Database Administrator will provide CBP with secure and stable IT infrastructure to run the CBP enterprise applications from the development through production environments, including Operating Systems, COTS, and associated application and COTS product platform migration tasks.  Objectives also include providing customer support for service requests, support for when ICE orders circuits for users of voice, data, or video systems, and providing new or enhanced desktop, network, email, directory, and security solutions for implementation by the operations division.

     TASK DESCRIPTION

    • Provide all activities related to the administration of computerized databases
    • Communicate with management, technicians, and end-users to evaluate need prior to development of an automated solution
    • Prepare detailed reports which might include system requirements such as concurrent usage factors, data storage requirements, response rates, and discuss procedures for processing data through the use of data base management systems (DBMS) including relational data bases
    • Project long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function
    • Design, create, and maintain databases in a client/server environment
    • Migration of application software into production, system performance monitoring, COTS product installation, patching, upgrades, problem troubleshooting, and resolution of issues that cause performance problems or outages. All issues affecting production will be resolved and then documented including a root cause analysis and summary of events in an online trouble ticket resolution system
    • Manage software implementation, configuration, and the maintenance of customers IT application infrastructure in all development and developer testing (non-production), integration and performance testing (pre-production), and production environments (which includes, training and disaster recovery (DR)
    • Manage the physical infrastructure for application hosting. Support of 24x7x365 Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software and operational support for customer maintained virtual environments. The locations serviced may also include the same software and operational support for systems hosted at Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FEDRAMP) Cloud Hosting providers
    • Manage the Collaboration Tool on SharePoint; the Agency’s collaborative platform for business automation, document and information sharing, and customization capabilities
    • Design and implement the technical infrastructure relating to databases.
    • Improve operational efficiencies.
    • Perform database utility functions and daily maintenance.
    • Monitor database and application availability and performance.
    • Provide maintenance and support of the Windows development and test application environments.
    • Implement database, code and script changed in the production environment.
    • Install new releases of MS Structure Query Language (SQL) server-based applications.
    • Troubleshoot application issues related to database access.
    • Back up support for progress database application environment.
    • Interface with other database team members and act as a liaison between other organizations and technical teams.

    Required Skills

    • Database knowledge and experience vendor/client management skills.
    • MS SQL Server, Data Transformation Services (DTS), data cleansing, stored procedures.
    • Visual Basic programming/scripting, relational databases, Microsoft Access, Excel.
    • Active DoD IAT, IAT Level II certification. (Any one of the following: CCNA Security, CompTia Security+ CE, CompTia CySA+, GIAC GICSP, GIAC GSEC, ISC2 SSCP)
    • Preference to candidates with IT certifications
    • Prefer candidates w/ Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).

    Required Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related discipline, plus 3 years of specialized experience; or Associates Degree in computer science, engineering, information management, or related discipline plus 7 years recent, specialized experience; or Major IT Certification plus 7 years recent, specialized experience, or 11 years recent, specialized experience.
