    Job Description

    The EDITOR FOR RHEUMATOLOGY NETWORK completes the tasks necessary for the creation and preparation of high-quality content for the media channels used by the brand/property, with an emphasis on increasing the reach and impact of rheumatologynetwork.com and other publishing channels.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    MULTIMEDIA CONTENT CREATION (75%)

    • Write and edit multimedia content, including articles, slideshows, videos, podcasts, quizzes, polls, and more for rheumatologynetwork.com.
    • Attend conferences to create content, including written articles, videos, podcasts, slideshows and more.
    • Report and write news stories as needed.
    • Work with expert contributors, bloggers and freelance writers to produce and edit original content for rheumatologynetwork.com.
    • Work with Rheumatology Network editorial team and special projects to create compelling custom content when applicable.
    • Participate in data and web traffic analysis and the development of recommendations from that data, and will help to facilitate the execution of chosen tactics.
    • Stay current with content consumption trends to optimize opportunities to engage audience across platforms.
    • Track documentation for select contributors, including copyright/license agreements, exemption forms, W9s and invoices.

    DIGITAL CONTENT PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (10%)

    • Regularly confer with editorial teams/supervisor/advisory board to contribute to content and topic generation for daily web publishing.
    • Maintain a daily digital content schedule.
    • Assist in evaluating finalized copy for compliance with policies, style and tone.

    SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEB TRAFFIC ENHANCEMENT (10%)

    • Manage and use best practices to enhance the reach and impact of Rheumatology Network social media channels
    • Use Search Engine Optimization and other strategies to boost traffic to rheumatologynetwork.com

    INDUSTRY NETWORKING & OTHER (5%)

    • Maintain positive professional relationships with industry experts and other internal and external contacts related to the generation and preparation of content.
    • Attend conferences and events to write news or create other multimedia.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences communications, journalism, or a related field.
    • 2-5 years experience in journalism or related field.
    • Ability to learn about the professional roles, language and terminology, and nuances of the rheumatology discipline or the curiosity and interest to learn quickly.
    • Ability to translate industry understanding into relevant, practical content geared toward professional rheumatology audience.
    • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in content planning and execution in digital (and print) platforms.
    • Excellent scheduling, organizational skills with sharp attention to detail.
    • Thrives both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
    • Familiarity and ease with content management and publishing systems, medical literature databases (PubMed etc.) and social media; knowledge of Omniture analytics and SEO strategies a plus
    • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite.
